BRIGHTON, Mich. (WJBK) – The Bugatti Veyron features 1001 horsepower and can go from zero to 60 in two-and-a-half seconds.”Sometimes my friends think I need psychiatric help, actually, just because I’m so passionate about cars,” said Ken Lingenfelter. He owns the Veyron, as well as 190 other cars in a collection rarely seen by the public, but Saturday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. you can lay your eyes on them with proceeds helping the blind and visually impaired. “We’re going to charge $15 per person. That’s money for the charity. It’s not for our company,” Lingenfelter told us. The charity is the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology.
“If you buy that ticket, for an extra $5 you can buy a ticket to see the big show out at the Edsel Ford Estate in Grosse Pointe on Sunday,” he added. Lingenfelter has rare Corvettes, Italian exotics and hot rods, but he’s also turning the new Camaro into a Firebird-like car called the TA. The TA is very close to production giving new life to a beloved icon. “When General Motors dropped Pontiac, it left a big void for us. So, I told our guys we’re just going to build one on our own,” Lingenfelter said.
To see Lingenfelter’s cars, take I-96 to Kensington Road, go south a couple of miles and turn left on Lochlin Drive.
